The RIG self-braking descender allows users to easily position themselves at their work station by using the handle to lock the device in place on the rope. Its intuitive design makes it easy to handle, offering a convenient and efficient alternative to traditional descenders. The multi-function handle allows users to:
- Unlock the rope and control the descent with the free end of the rope in hand.
- Position themselves at the work station without the need to tie off the device.
The automatic return system on the handle reduces risks from inadvertent actions by the user.
The handle storage position helps minimize snagging when carrying the descender on a harness.
The gate on the moving side plate prevents accidental drops and aids in rope installation when passing intermediate anchors.
The pivoting cam helps take up slack in the rope. It can also be used for a progress-capture haul system or short ascents (when combined with a FOOTAPE or FOOTCORD foot loop and an ASCENSION handled rope clamp).
