About Petzl
Petzl are a French manufacturer of height safety equipment, both for working at height and for recreational activities such as climbing and caving. The company was founded by Fernand Petzl who began his caving career in the 1920’s and 1930’s. This career led to him collaborating with a fellow caver by the name of Pierre Chevalier; together they designed and tested the first nylon rope to replace caving ladders. Petzl then went on to design his first mountaineering headlamp and the rest, as they say, is history! We now have the Petzl company as we know it today.
